Today let us aspire to be ourselves

standard – some formulation of improved

qualities we should all strive to mirror

in our day-to-day lives, and instead,  just

to offer.

 

Today let us just be our best selves –

no more – no less – understanding that

within our eccentricities exists our unique

contribution to the flavor and fabric of life

and existence itself – so bring all of you

to the party – leave nothing out – and let

Today let us just be us as we allow others

to be their authentic selves – no need for

Sometimes we must make our way when

no path is obvious, sometimes we must

inspire ourselves when no inspiration

is forthcoming, at these times, we must

understand that the creative force for

good truly exists within us, not something

received, but is generated instead.

Today let us reach within and generate

our worthy contribution - grabbing hold

of our clear and always present desire

to make more of this life than we now

encounter, to see through its limitations

and expand its horizons.

So today, we transcend our even-well

Realize all we see, touch, experience,

or do, represents the culmination of our

desires made manifest, made tangible,

given form, by our creative Souls - so this

life, our life now – is a vision of life

propelled into being by our heartfelt

dreams, called forth by our prayers.

 

For all we love about our current lives,

let us affirm it, establish its continued

existence - for what we wish to change,

to alter, or to refashion – let us love

it even more, and from this base

of active love, work to recreate it

I would like to explore the struggle, at least for me,

between “belief” and “fear” and feature some 

Affirmative Thoughts and MeditationNotes that

I want to share on these topics. I hope you

find them helpful. 

 

First, an Affirmative Thought For Today.

 

              INTERNAL STRUGGLE

             Let us fully understand and be aware,

                  that there is no struggle in our world

                   that is not an internal struggle –

                   entirely centered in our minds and

                   created by our thoughts.

           

            Let us fully comprehend that within,

                we have the power to reinterpret,

                reenvision and reframe any conflict,

                struggle, or negative event, simply,

                by rethinking and realigning our thoughts.

 

            All we see outside is created from within.

 

            Today, see only solutions, positive action

               and steady progress!

 

Next, I would like to conclude with a Meditation

Note that helps me conceptualize my internal

struggle between “belief,” on the one hand, and

“fear” on the other.  

 

POWER OF BELIEF                                           

Believe, and it will be true – it will be created – manifested

into complete form – full life. Simply believe. Belief is a full

alignment and focus of your vibrational energy –  

your creative soul energy - and it takes a tremendous

act of  clarity and focus.

 

Belief requires that competing forces in your mind and

Soul do not question but fully supports the effort – totally –

completely. Otherwise, “doubt” splits the focus like

a wedge and impedes the movement to total belief.

 

What is “doubt” but the competing ego forces of fear

and insecurity? The ego shouts – “how could this be true –

how could you move the mountain? Are you crazy? - do

you need help?” It is your job and in your self-interest

to indoctrinate the ego - soothe and retrain the voice

in your head to seek the safety of total belief – total

clarity in pursuing the prize of enlightenment.

 

Utilize the ego, teaming with the ego in the pursuit

of complete and total belief. Believe in yourself and your

capacity for cocreation - your ability to harness

the power and create heaven on earth.

 

Believe and it will be so!

Spiritual quests are often about expanding

our insight, our vision, our comprehension

of what is actually occurring to us in

spiritual consciousness. It is often easy to

sit back and settle for what appears to us now

to be a revelation. Let us be sure we have made

the connection with God we were intended

to accomplish, knowing we are fully capable

of this intricate balance.  

 

FULL VISION  

Let us not move away from

            but towards a full vision

of complete spiritual renewal,

            with a sure-footed step,

aware and alive in the truth –

            connected life with God

is plausible, doable, and obtainable.

 

Let us clear away any doubt,

            fear, or confusing sentiment,

prepared and ready to grasp

            the notion of a connected

universe, where all within

            exist within the same ocean

of being, intention, and active life.

 

And as we do, understand

            our place, realizing each breath

is a lifeline, underscoring

            our very interdependence,

as we survive and thrive in

            our ocean of positive expansion,

aware caretakers of this

            intricate balance.

I would like to introduce a discussion on simplifying

our lives. Often, in my life, when I wished to make

a life change the most, I found myself complicating

my life, so the change was impossible. I would go

out and buy a bigger house or a new car so changing

my job or career became difficult. 

 

As outlined in the Affirmative Thought, titled Simplification,

purposeful action is easiest to obtain when we unravel

the complexity of our lives, whether financial, social,

mental,  professional, or personal, and leave the burdens

we have, in most cases, self-created on the side of the road.

  

SIMPLIFICATION  

Today, through simplification, we realize

that less is really more – an opportunity

to unravel the complexity of our lives and

find freedom by removing our burdens and

leaving them on the side of the road of life –

allowing us to run through the fields of joy –

free to dance and sing.

 

Today, by simplifying our minds

we determine our reactions to the challenges

we confront and reserve our response –

avoiding the investment of emotion in

meaningless experience.

 

Today, we simplify our needs and desires,

leaving only the essential wants –

those centered on love, family, and God –

Within us is a power so constant,

    so strong, so stabilizing that when

        summoned will protect and guide us

    through any storm, any time of need,

        ensuring we will weather whatever

we confront with complete certainty.

THE OBSERVER

Clear your mind today, allowing it to be

like a blank canvas or, better yet, a movie

screen curving to incorporate the periphery

of your visual landscape, with eyes closed

tight notice the impressions, light and dark

shadows appear, fade, and reform.

 

As you open your eyes slowly, realize

the depth, the palette of form, color, and

dimension, its order, and completeness,

as the vision fills your inner screen with

the projection of actual life experienced.

 

Notice this optical miracle; you the

observer, the experiencer of the

wonder, the reflector of creation,

the true consciousness of the universe,

the expression of allness, understand

your significance: refusing ever to

A major point of debate between modern

spiritual seekers and established religious

organizations often centers on where God

exists and in what form. As I work on Part

Four of The Finding God On The Train Story -

focused on God Consciousness and connecting 

with the divinity within, God is described as

a universal consciousness rather than an

entity and I realize this point of contention 

not only determines your belief but also your 

approach to spiritual life.

 

Case in point: when I am divinely inspired,

I believe that my personal or local consciousness, 

which resides in my mind - via centered prayer

and meditation  - connects with the Universal

God Consciousness  - non-local but accessible 

through my mind. 

 

This God or Universal Consciousness includes 

my personal consciousness, along with the

personal consciousness of every human being 

now existing, or who has ever existed, thus

including all other sentient life in the universe.  

 

The connection or gateway to this God or 

Divine consciousness within us is

often referred to as the Crystal or Divine

Self by my guidance on the train.  In fact,

I have started to believe that it is this

very connection that makes us distinctly 

human. 

 

So, I believe this divine wisdom is readily

available to anyone, everyone for the asking. 

Simply ask and we shall receive. From my 

perspective we are - by way of consciousness -

always connected with God, and as I will explain

in Part Four, with any and all sentient life 

that exits now or has ever existed. 

 

I say all of this as an introduction to the

Affirmative Thought below suggesting

that you, me, all of us should tap this

Divine wisdom. My Divine wisdom tapping

has changed my life over the past ten

plus years, and after transcribing five journals

of Divinely inspired guidance it thankfully

keeps coming. Ann says jokingly (I hope), 

that perhaps God thinks I need more help 

and guidance than most. She may have

a point.  

 

But my mission entails helping people

connect with God in whatever shape or

form they feel most comfortable with

believing. I believe God does not worry

about what religious or spiritual car we

are driving, if we stop, God is getting 

in for the ride.

 

TAP DIVINE WISDOM  

Wisdom is not what we think; it is

what we feel – arriving as requested

from our Divine center, our Souls,

to ignite the creative spark needed

to rethink the situation, discover the

solution, and progress.

 

Wisdom is the Divine inspiration –

the stroke of genius, the aha that

expands our tunnel vision into

a new vista of possibilities, carrying

us to a new conclusion, creating

new opportunities for living, for

thinking, for approaching our lives

THESE TUMBLING TIMES

When we tumble, we see the world

around us from different perspectives,

from different vantage points, upside

down and backward, askance, askew,

off-center - by doing so, often, the thoughts

in our heads jumble, creating fresh ideas

not yet considered.

 

It is exactly at these tumbling, jumbling,

times when we must be most observant,

vigilant to pluck, keep, or cull these

gestational gifts – tenderly setting

each notion aside for more thorough

consideration, examination, later.

Personal limitations act as barriers to

our authentic being, confining us even

before we are able to demonstrate the

counter truth. One of my own personal

favorites is that I could not sing, leading

me to avoid it for many years: the gift

from a caustic eighth-grade music teacher,

who let me sing four notes. Our chaotic

minds seem to gravitate to outlining these

unfounded limitations, so we are better

prepared for life. It is time for us to shed

any and all misguided limitations we are

hauling around with us, as the note below

explains.

 

DISMISS AND REFUSE

Let us dismiss and refuse to accept

the notion of personal limitations,

whether perceived by ourselves or

others: perhaps mistakenly given

credence during distraught times,

or even maliciously derived out of

envy or spite.

 

Today, uncover these apparent,

or quite possibly, subterranean

evaluations, forcing each into

the light of truth and love,

shedding each in turn saying –

 

“ I refuse to be limited,

by this or any related

condition, I am set free

by God’s power and grace!”

 

Know now and forever onward,

all personal limits are the product

of a distortion of the truth,

a misperception, a caustic vision,

misunderstanding the limitless

nature of our human intention

when connected with the Divine

essence of all existence, where

love, grace, goodness, and mercy reign.

prevail – prove more powerful than

opposing forces; be victorious.

 

Determination, I believe, is the creative force

of our human existence: the ability to prevail,

to prove more powerful than the opposing forces –

be they fate, nature, lethargy, inner self-doubt,

fear, the opposition of others – well-meaning or

just plain malicious.

 

I don’t really believe in or give much credence to,

purposeful supernatural negative forces, such as

a devil, but I do believe in counter-forces, that

every action, positive or negative, is often met

with an opposing action, as life itself resists

change and adaptation.

 

We, humankind, are the rare natural agents

for change and creation within current existence,

other than entropy, which is built into the natural

system.

 

So, how do we prevail? The note below suggests

it is with persistence, with our sights fixed on the

goal - this goal fully imagined and shaped in our

thinking then held in thought with belief until it,

through our efforts or otherwise, attracts and

creates and forms its likeness.  

  

PERSISTENCE WILL PREVAIL

The waves of life at times may pound us,

disrupting our forward progress, thwarting

our planned momentum, yet if we persist

to venture onward with our sights fixed on

the goal – refusing to give up or give in –

persistence will prevail.

 

A thought held firm and not relinquished,

will outlast even a steady torrent of ill

fortune: if believed and held as truth

in prayer – so let us tend and grow

our strong intentions - sure in our

convictions.

 

All that is sure and worthy – our hopes,

dreams and pursuits may find their

form in our imaginings, shaped in our

thinking - held true in our believing,

attracted by our creating – until even

the winds of outrageous fortune fail

to impede our steady endeavors.

Although, for the most part, I believe our minds

mean well when they barrage us with the potential

consequences, often negative, of what has been

done or left undone. I understand that controlling 

our thoughts, our consciousness, is essential for

reaching a state of balance where we can fully

live our authentic lives.

 

I also understand that when I leave my mind

unattended,  I wake up as I did this morning 

with the list of potential life issues churning 

in an endless loop in my mind.  I always hope 

I will outgrow the need for mind control,

but I never seem to. So below, here is the

note I wrote as a reminder of where my 

mind needs to be focused.

    

RECLAIMING OUR THOUGHTS 

Today let us address and work to resolve

those issues in our lives that cause us

concern, worry, or at times fear –

clearing away any real or imagined

negative consequences, and by doing

so removing these voices in our minds.

 

Today let us address the litany of dire

thoughts given center stage in our minds –

that create confusion and steal our joy –

impede our happiness – upset our peace

and leave us exhausted as we focus on

what might be, or could be, at some

dreaded future time.

 

Today let us step out of the future with

its potential calamities, or the past

with its critique of our missteps, and

into this now, today, our clean slate, our

fresh start, where life exists, God exists,

hope exists, taking constructive action

to reclaim our thoughts through affirmative

thought, action, and belief.

To summon - to authoritatively or urgently call to

be present, to urgently demand, to bring to the

surface. Yes, this is what this note below directs

us to do - to call forth the Divine assistance that

is ours for the asking through affirmative prayer,

meditation, envisioning, or even a simple well

placed thoughtful request - all vehicles for

summoning these forces of good in our lives.

 

Often, I find I need to summon again, rather 

then expect that my summoning of the past

is still in some way current and in force. 

 

WHEN SUMMONED

Within us is a power so constant,

so strong, so stabilizing that when

summoned will protect and guide us

through any storm, any time of need,

ensuring we will weather whatever

we confront with complete certainty.

 

Within us is a sense of peace so tranquil,

so serene, so encompassing that when

summoned it will soothe and envelop

us until the tempest is subdued,

the tumult transformed into a

gentle breeze, a calm oasis.

 

Within us is a guide so thoughtful,

so caring, so wise, that when

summoned will gladly assist us

through even our most difficult

journey, our darkest hour, gently

clearing the path and pointing the

way to our intended destination,

our waiting good, our heaven on earth.

I have found it worthwhile, daily - and some

days even more often - to conduct a positivity

check, to see what is swirling around in my

head: is it empowering, encouraging, purposeful;

or a litany of complaints, poor me’s, and/or

ongoing despairs.

 

New Thought folks would say a negative mind

is attracting  just as vigorously as a positive mind:

reminding us that it is essential to ensure our

thoughts of anguish and angst do not betray us.

 

As the note below indicates, one way to do this

is to envision our dreams as already fulfilled,

obtained – and by enabling every detail to come

to life within our imaginations, we keep our

minds focused on what we truly intend: our

mental sights set to attract our greater good.

 

THOUGHTS OF DREAMS FULFILLED

Often we must inspire ourselves with

    thoughts of dreams fulfilled, keeping

our intended life well placed in our

    perspective, ensuring our focus is

not blurred by transitory moments

    of angst and anguish, lifeless than

Often when tangled in our good intentions,

it is advisable to set our sights on higher

ground, releasing our hold on well-meaning

desires, allowing plans thwarted for now

to simmer: scanning the horizon instead,

in search of signs and signals.

 

Perhaps the drums we hear in the distance

beat for us; or not, yet, even so, we may

benefit from incorporating their rhythm

into our pace; possibly even the thoughts

considered impractical, untenable, when

merged and blended, seem inspired,

worthy, even manageable.

Having watched too much college basketball

this season,  I was fascinated and focused

again this year on the phrase  - "in transition" - 

used by the coaches and commentators

to describe the process of traveling full court

to shift from defense to offense, or vice versa,

where the team has to move to their own or 

the opposing team's basket.  Much of the game, 

and many of the exciting fast-break plays 

originate in this place of transition.

 

In reality, many of us may exist in our own

professional,  personal, and/or spiritual lives

"in transition," where what worked in the past 

may now seem somewhat dull and lack-luster,

leaving us to wake each morning wishing we

could alter in some way this life we now lead, 

even if we are not quite sure how. It is often 

challenging to approach these days with

enthusiasm and a sense of purpose.  

 

Finding myself at such a crossroads, I find

that this note below offers a piece of very 

sound advice - "stay on purpose," especially

when in a time of transition. 

 

IN TRANSITION 

Today stay on purpose, refusing

to be knocked off course by doubt,

self-questioning, or confusion –

reaching within instead to reconnect

with your inner values and sense

of mission.

 

Today stay on purpose, even if you

wonder whether this is the right

course, realizing that only through

right action will you be able to

discover the viable alternative

or the shift needed to find your

realignment going forward.

 

Today stay on purpose, knowing

within the contrast or friction

a spark of creative genius may

erupt and ignite your imagination,

lighting the way to a fuller perspective

where passion and enthusiasm

I offer this note in honor of all those facing abuse,

or intolerance, or hunger  - know that the force

of  God is the life within - the champion within you -

willing to fight with you for your right to continue

living. Know too that you are not alone.

the sprouts of our potential to push

    the earth away and grow in the warm

light of a new day – to bask in its

    opportunity – to be drenched in

the quenching flow of the blooming

    of fresh life.

    to celebrate the flowering of our

perfection - to marvel at the sheer

    magic of our magnificence, to wonder

at the origins of our unique beauty.

AN INVISIBLE HAND

Often when we least expect it, help is on

the way, the conundrum unraveled, the hot

issue is cooled off, the potential demise

averted, the misdirection appropriately

rectified,  and what was once dark is now

rightfully illuminated.

 

Yet, as serendipitous as this may appear,

we are fully aware of the source of this

good fortune, the invisible hand moving

these disjointed and disparate threads

into a whole cloth, the perpetuator of

unseen grace in our lives.

 

So today, let us proceed on with a full

measure of confidence that our good,

will arrive in time, as needed, with no cause

for fret or dismay, requiring only a small

portion of faith to be threaded with our

unwavering belief in the totality of Divine

love.
