In life, we are at times confronted with the need
to take a secular or a spiritual leap of faith.
Faced with such a defining moment, whether
self-created or forced by circumstance, we often
find ourselves hog-tied, unable to proceed,
impeded by our conflicting desire for safety
and clarity.
In the corporate world, we call this “analysis
paralysis,” causing many an opportunity to slip
by during the wait. With relationships, it results
in our inability to make a full and lasting
commitment, sometimes failing to capture
the moment, and by doing so, numbing
the passion. In our spiritual life, we hesitate,
waiting for our true calling, delaying
the inevitable, even as we trip over the obvious
clues and guidance.
LEAP OF FAITH
Often, we must take the leap of faith,
unsure of where we will land, knowing
only our true trajectory will be revealed
when we believe and trust enough,
to thrust into the unknown, taking God’s
hand in ours without hesitation.
Often, we pause, not from lack of faith,
but from fear of the unknown, as our
minds, stirring a mix of doubt and
apprehension, concocted to muddle
our intentions, work to weight our
feet and thwart our ascent with this
confusion.
Often, the best course of action is
to leap before we look, hog–tying
the internal and external naysayers,
keeping our eyes on the intended prize,
reminding ourselves that God wants
us to win, to thrive, to succeed at living;
and will, without doubt, ensure a safe
landing.
