How would you express the quality

of your life today? It is this expression,

this emotional sentiment, a sort of

existential photo image, that we each

maintain and carry with us, working like

a “carbohydrate” of our inner existence,

which propels and energizes our real life,

physical experience, existence. New Thought

has always stressed the need, for each of us,

to direct, edit, and rewrite, if needed, this

inner expression.

 

POSITIVE EXPRESSION

Let us reach for a positive expression

of our lives today, ensuring our thoughts

express what we wish to experience and

have appeared – focusing on wholeness,

abundance, and flourishing.

 

Let us allow this positive expression

to clear away the malaise and unease

that may have found fertile soil,

planting instead thoughts of plenty,

prosperity, and lasting good, knowing

only we, one thought at a time, can

produce harmony and our rightful

tranquility.

 

Let us proceed with this positive

expression leading the way, shielding

us from our missteps of unwelcomed

thoughts, bolstering our spirits and

directing our focus on what will

nourish our lasting happiness, our

well-deserved peace, our earned

enjoyment.

We, us, humankind, who forever exist

as the erupting force of viable life, let us

know this: from the very moment of the first

consciousness our ancestors ripped

at the light of the world surrounding them,

harnessing what was reachable to create

a more sustainable foundation going

forward.

 

As we, in our lives now, add our footsteps

to this road, venturing onward, we must

contribute, not tentatively, but with our

whole hearts, knowing the very existence

of future existence depends upon

the nurturing of this eruption.  

 

Let us each wade through the morass

of our unique lives, clearing away

the lethargy, stretching to discover

what sparks we might ignite;

what fountain of life we might inspire;

what wonder - personally and collectively

as a family of beings – we might erupt.   

 

LIFE ERUPTS

The road is crisp

       with becoming;

            worn bare and clean

         by the footsteps

               of the multitudes,  

                     who ventured onward,

                  with clear dreams

              and overwhelming hope,

           with faith as a shield,

      determined to reach,

              beyond the constraints

                   of nature, of God, of man,

               envisioning a life robust,

       enticing, fertile with possibility,

                just waiting for the planting

         of their souls, eager

               for the sweat of their effort,

                          knowing it is in this place –

               at this moment,

SPARKING A FOUNTAIN OF YOU

Scintillate, being the spark of new life,

flashing forth the pure blessing and

the energy of being here, alive, on earth,

emitting the essence of you becoming,

share the exploding purpose of pure

and worthy intention, a soul-bursting

with possibilities – sparking arcs,

connecting, conjoined with life partners,

to create and recreate now, fresh,

patterns of presence, existence. 

 

Scintillate, with each motion, movement,

endeavor, shine forth the astounding

wonder of your individualized creation,

share the sparks of love, the creative

genius, the uniqueness of your offering,

allowing passion and purpose to ignite

and light the way, knowing the material

and kindling for this combustion resides

within you, now, release it now,

protecting each eruption as each spark

pierces the darkness until combined,

a fountain of light, of you, sustains us all.

A MORE VIGOROUS PROPOSITION

When life creates wrinkles, causing

    our plans to bunch and fold, possibly,

        disrupting our desired momentum,

    even adding a twist not considered

        previously - we question why now,

wondering where this may lead?

 

We soon realize no protest or denial

    will set these wrinkles straight, only

        due consideration will flatten out

    this anomaly; so with bated breath

        we assume the chore, doubting

what good may come of it.

 

And as we do, our perspective broadens,

    our previously unplanned for efforts

        seem to make some sense, capturing

    our imagination just enough to stimulate

        the hint of a more vigorous proposition –

    that when examined with full attention,

reflects an opportunity worth pursuing!

WHEN GOD IS POURING

Let us not expect less when more

pertains, driven by some foolish

notion of our worthiness, or confused

impression of appropriate desire –

instead; when God is pouring, may

we lift our most substantial cup,

to capture every intended drop.

 

As we do this, may our twisted

notions of scarcity and self-denial

seem pointless in the strong and

ample flow of God’s favor – the heavy

drops of good fortune, the abundant

grace anointing us.

 

Far and wide, let us strip any and all

limitations, we adhere to a boundless

God, prepared to receive even more

than this, if so ordained – replacing

joy for temperance, wonder for frugality,

heaven on earth for simple accommodation.

Again the conclusion to one of the worst weeks of carnage

I can remember, in my lifetime, a week full of terrorism,

racial hatred, political unrest, and just plain madness.

Quite frankly, our world unraveling.

 

So, I ask for guidance on how I, we, all of us, might

constructively respond to, approach, and hopefully,

eventually, circumvent this ongoing pattern of daily

disaster.

 

The response, listed below, titled Wrong  Reflection

at first seems clearly escapist, but after some consideration,

I realize our current fixation with violence in all forms,

as well as the anger, hatred, and institutionalized meanness,

requires a radical reconceiving, at least on the spiritual level,

hopefully helping us to stop attracting and perpetuating

our own madness. It is time, I believe, for a new vision, 

a more purified reflection: a world of sanity rather

than violent extremes – a world worthy of reflection.

 

WRONG REFLECTION

Look away, divert your focus, refuse to entertain

the tragic consequences of the wrong reflection,

the work of madness given form by frequent  

rumination, refusing to speculate on the ways

and means for fixing what is broken, and instead,

reflect actively on what is desirable, positive,

worthy and valuable: stepping within this vision,

clarifying even the minutest detail, feel the refreshing

breeze of hope, compassion, and empathy returned;

letting it surround you, flush through you, breathe

it in until you are one with it; know this conscious

vision will slowly erase the despair when held

in unison with all those who choose harmony,

peace, and compassion – forthrightness; look away,

divert the focus each and every time it hurts your soul;

look away and within until this shared vision takes

tangible form; until kindness resurfaces one magical

moment at a time until, like a wave, a new presence

forms this existence, this life.
