There is one aspect of New Thought that
requires some clarification, and that is the
focus of affirmations, prayers, treatments,
and envisionings, on what is perfect, whole,
complete - the fully formed and/or the fully
desired end result. It seems logical to infer
that we should already be, now, what we are
summoning, or trying to attract into our lives,
and since we may not be, then we are deficient
or lacking in some essential way.
The same is true when we are peeling the
onion of our inner world, using meditation or
other forms of self-reflection, and as we explore
deeper, coming to realize we have some work to
do in clearing the debris of our internal mental
environment. The tendency is for our egos to
move in and find this newly revealed splinter,
using it to chastise us, or negate, or impede
our efforts.
As the note below reflects, anything that we
discover in our spiritual quest that denotes
where improvement is needed, must be handled
with loving kindness. The rule here is that any
insight or revelation that is used to increase
our suffering, rather than diminish it, has taken
on a negative, destructive form, and should be
redirected.
So, let us commend ourselves for our forward
progress, proceeding with an open mind
and a generous heart.
FORWARD PROGRESS
Often in our moments of deepest
reflection, we see ourselves with more
clarity and honesty, our true selves
separated from the noise and commotion
of daily striving, perhaps exposing
the charades we have donned to meet
the challenges of living.
As we strive for more authentic being,
let us refrain from self-judgement,
taking these gems of insight as starting
points for enhancement and redirection,
commending ourselves for forward
progress.
As we reach for more of our potential,
let us do so with an open mind and
a generous heart, fully accepting
what has gone before as the stepping
stone for what we now endeavor,
ready to part the curtain and reveal
our waiting essence - evolving.
