Why is it that the day I least feel like
getting up and cooperating, I am often
summoned to stop whining and get on with it.
I woke up and it was still dark and very cold,
the hard rain was pounding the roof, and since
it is my job to take the dogs out, get Ann's
tea and of course write her morning note, which
as you know often finds its way on the blog post
for the day, I could not roll over and ignore
the alarm.
I felt nauseous, my back hurt, and I was running
late. I decided not to write Ann's note, sure she
would understand I was not up to it. Anyway,
the dog's were a mess I had to dry them off.
Ann did not seem all that eager herself to get up
and going, as I repeatedly let her know she was
running out of time. Ann's work continues to be
a daily struggle, so I understand why she was
not all too anxious to get up and out.
As I sat in the library convinced I was justified,
I heard a familiar non-sympathetic voice saying,
"get up and get your paper and pen and write
Ann's note." One thing I have learned to do
over the past six years is listen to guidance, so
I got what I needed and in moments the inspiring
note below appeared - with me being thankful
for what seemed to be words of personal
encouragement.
Later, when Ann came out of the bedroom
holding the note, I admitted that I was going
to skip writing the note, but felt what I wrote
was directed more at me than her. She turned
and said, "this note is exactly what I needed
to get going today, I will take it with me and
read it over and over. This note is for me.
Thank you for writing this note."
And now, I offer the note for anyone who
may need some words of inspiration to get
up and out.
UP AND OUT
Today we call on strength, we call on wisdom,
we call on all we can muster to set in motion
our positive approach to this day, refusing
to be ambushed by our own attitudes – our
own hesitant step – our own confusion.
Today, in one perfect clear motion, we rise
to the occasion knowing we are ready and
able to move full throttle forward, and through
this simple clear intention, reconnect with
our purpose – emblazoned by our perfect
belief - our ongoing mission.
Today we shake off the throws of sleep,
stand erect and continue on triumphant –
knowing we will not be overtaken from
perceived weakness, but emboldened by
our sheer tenacity and strength of will –
clear-headed and victorious.
