Today let us aspire to be ourselves

rather than adjust ourselves to fit some

standard – some formulation of improved

qualities we should all strive to mirror

in our day-to-day lives, and instead,  just

bring to life what we have been created

to offer.

 

Today let us just be our best selves –

no more – no less – understanding that

within our eccentricities exists our unique

contribution to the flavor and fabric of life

and existence itself – so bring all of you

to the party – leave nothing out – and let

us all bask in the wonder of one of a kind.

 

Today let us just be us as we allow others

to be their authentic selves – no need for

compromise, no cause to criticize, no

expectation of change, no list of minor

improvements needed and together tap

the strength of our true diversity.

On July 4th morning I transcribed the Affirmative Thought

below titled Dream of Dreams which seems to address our

habit of dreaming small instead of dreaming big, significant,

and meaningful dreams - dreams I believe God wants us to

dream and accomplish.

 

Since I was taking a few days of vacation with Ann to explore

the Staunton, VA area I put the note aside and just set out to

have fun. Part of the fun was attending a Crosby, Stills, and Nash

concert in Charlottesville. It was at the concert that I realized

that the old hippies who were like me in the audience were

celebrating the message and the music of their youth that spoke

to them in the  late sixties and seventies - a message of a better,

fairer, and more peaceful world. A message that we seemed to

have collectively left behind for the most part. 

 

Seeing David Crosby up there reminded me how much he had

not changed -  and how much I had changed, conformed, become

established and in the process had lost much of this 60's energy

I was only now regaining with my Finding God On The Train

efforts. As CSN's younger musicians and the founding  members

seriously offered the peace sign I began to dream  a dream so

significant, so momentous, so preposterous it will make many 

laugh at the idea.

 

It is a dream of of awakening - where all of the socially conscious  -

formerly hip - baby boomers I grew up with, including me,  wake

from their sleep of forty years and again become socially active

and aware. Each choosing a cause and using their substantial 

financial and time resources to change the world - to finish  what

they had set  out to do so many years ago. A dream where they all

join forces to change the world  politically, socially, morally, and

spiritually - refusing to go gentle into that good night, instead

they choose to rage valiantly against the dying of the light.

            

                  DREAM OF DREAMS

 

Today let us dream a dream so significant,

so momentous, so preposterous we shake

our heads and laugh at the very idea –

a dream  that makes others say no but our

hearts sing yes – a dream both frightening

and inviting at the same time.

 

Today let us dream a dream of dreams

accepting that within the mind that can

conceive the thought exists the resources

to bring it into form – to completion –

to make the thought a reality – to transform

fantasy into vibrant actuality – fully capable

to give birth to this dream of dreams.

 

Today let us dream knowing the divine

spark within  us is the magic needed –

the wand – the potion – to take our dream

from thought to life and in a transcendent

moment to see God alive within the magic

as the inconceivable catches its breath

and is born – flexing its muscles for all

the world to see.

The Law of Mind Action or Attraction requires that we approach

our existing life situation with enthusiasm and passion in order

to move beyond it and attract a better fit in the future. Of all the

New Thought concepts this is the most difficult, at least for me,

to master. How do we bring ourselves to a passionate response 

for something that we have lost our passion for, can no longer

tolerate, or are just plain bored to death with doing?

 

But here lies the conundrum - to move beyond whatever we

are wishing to change we need to embrace it with positive,

productive, and passionate emotion. I wrote the note below

this morning for my wife Ann who is trying to decide if she

wants to retire early as the organization she works with

struggles to change. Ann realized yesterday that she was

not moving closer to a clear decision and solution because

she has been finding it difficult to apporach the job with

passion and enthusiasm. 

 

It appears when working with the Law of Attraction, truly

today's energy determines tomorrow's results. 

 

Your thoughts?

    

   PRIMING THE VIBRATIONAL PUMP

 

Let us realize what we do and accomplish

today is as important as what we hope to

do tomorrow – so let’s settle back into

the routine of life with a new vigor, a

reestablished focus knowing passion

and energy must accompany any

successful action.

    

Let us realize that here and now – within

this present is where we lay the foundation

for the future’s plan of action – its hopes

and dreams - requiring total loving

engagement - to prime the vibrational pump

which attracts bright futures based on the

equally radiant present.

 

Let us realize that we must hone in on

establishing a habit of passionate action

in all we do – resulting in memorable 

accomplishments and purposeful

contribution – expanding the greater

good for all involved as we set the stage

for more of the same to arrive in the future.

I came home last night from being away to my home in

Fredericksburg to face the tree limb strewn lawn that I

had avoided for over a week. Everyone in the neighborhood

had cleaned up so there was no delaying the reality that a

fast clean-up was needed. Guess what I am doing as soon

as I finish this post.

 

Ok, there are times in life when doing is just a better

strategy than thinking about it. I wrote the note below for

all of us who  might have a better day if we just joined the

high-tech assembly  folks  in the picture above and do

what needs to be done. 

     

        DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE

 

Avoid becoming lost in thought today and

 just do what needs to be done, in earnest,

with conviction, with enthusiasm  knowing

pure action works best without commentary

or criticism – being one with each effort –

one with doing.

 

Avoid bringing conflicting attitudes or

emotions to the surface and instead commit

to doing rather than judging – allowing clear

and fluid action to be your guide – enjoy the

motion, the movement of you at one and

connected with a purposeful, productive

undertaking.

 

Avoid discussion, debate, or arguments today

as you stay within the zone of heightened

doing – in the flow – accomplishing what

needs doing now and leaving the confusion

or conflict for others to resolve later as you

forge ahead and beyond with unconflicted

action.

On this road to our becoming - let us call

it enlightenment - much of the New Thought

and eastern spiritual wisdom directs us to be

thoroughly committed to the doing while 

detached from the outcome or goal.

 

This implies a strong faith in the universe

working in our favor, ensuring we are projecting

the vibration of trust and unqualified expectation 

that our awaiting prominence will arrive.

 

This detached enthusiastic living has taken me

a great deal of practice to learn, but when I do 

achieve it, I am always amazed by the forces that

are out and about working for my greater good. 

The note presented here is intended to provide

a simple reminder when needed.  

 

ON THIS ROAD

 

On this road to our becoming everything

happens for a reason and, although we may

be confused by its value; our role is to simply

accept its contribution with an open heart

and mind, continuing onward to our destination –

our awakening prominence.

 

On this road, we let go of the desire to control

the circumstances – the outcomes – realizing

that only through our complete acceptance

can our lives deliver our intended blessings –

our waiting magnificence – by doing

what needs to be done, we allow our greater

good to materialize when appropriate.

 

On this road enjoy the journey – be alive

and awake within its adventure, keep pace

with its momentum, participate with

enthusiasm and listen intently to its music,

dance to its beat, laugh at its funny stories,

and grow into its full splendor.

I have been feeling a bit spiritually disconnected lately

so I got up early to get back into my routine of

meditating first thing in the morning. I made a cup

of coffee and went to my back patio and started my 

spiritual reading and realized it was Friday the 13th.

I began praying and meditating and asking for God's

assistance and in the whispers I heard - "come on

man you are a champion and you need to remind 

yourself of that - get back in the game - refocus and

if nothing else at least start living and thinking like

your a champion."  Ok, I thought, this is direct 

feedback and for the next  thirty minutes I was

encouraged to take on the perspective of a

champion. 

 

When I finished meditating and asked for guidance for 

Ann's morning note that I write, I transcribed the note 

Live Like A Champion found below and realized that

this was going to be the theme for this Friday the 13th.

So I have decided to get going and live this Friday the

13th like a champion. I offer this post to see if I can

provide some encouragement to those who, like me, 

 may be in need of a fresh or revised perspective. 

 

I have even added a download below of the Glee Cast

Champions to add some musical stimulation and

accompaniment for the day. 

 

God, I feel better already.

Live today like a champion propelled

                              THE RIDE

 

Sometimes we are not sure where life is going –

all we know is we are going with it and need

to fasten our seat belts, take in the ride and

survive the experience – the twists – the turns –

hoping for a safe landing.

 

Sometimes as we tighten our grip and hold

on for dear life during this ride we rant at

our misfortune, our bad luck, the lack of

support as we face the real or imagined

pain and suffering that may be present or

waiting for us down the road – wondering

why life needs to be so hard.

 

Sometimes when the ride is over and reality

is settled in we look back and understand

that our courage and fortitude enabled us

to survive – that our determination and

will to live created the opportunity for

continued existence – offering us the gift

of another ride.

In times of conflict and turmoil sometimes the

best way to proceed is to step back. Ann is having

a difficult time at work as her organization fights

for survival which means difficult decisions for

managers and the leaders of the company. Step

back moments provide us with the opportunity to

gain a fresh perspective and allow a reasonable

solution to surface.  I wrote the note below for

Ann and all of us who might be in need of  taking

a step back to gain composure, balance, and to just 

plain regroup. 

                        STEP BACK

  

Step back today from the fray to allow

yourself to fully understand the reality

of the situation, to sift through the tempest,

the raw emotions and uncover a course

of worthy action for you and all concerned.

 

Step back today to regain your balance and

clear perspective realizing you have the

strength and courage if needed to do what

is right or necessary to resolve this or any

other tumult you face now or in the future

by allowing the solution to reveal itself in

your heart.

 

Step back today to regain your trust and

faith in the clear manifestation of positive

outcomes as you continue to be a magnet

for good in your life and the lives of those

you care about – while upholding your

belief in fairness, justice, and the rights

In 1901 Richard Maurice Burke, M.D. published a book

titled Cosmic Consciousness - A Study In the Evolution

of the Human Mind based on his personal mystical

experience and a review of those who had in his opinion

reached a fourth stage of human consciousness and had

obtained a "new mind" one with cosmic vision and cosmic

intuition.  This fourth or last  stage of Burke's four stages

of consciousness was what he called cosmic consciousness -

the intuitional mind - the mind  whose highest element

is " intuition" allowing those who attain this stage to see

the cosmos as entirely spiritual and entirely alive -

showing the universe is God and God is the universe.

When we are  cosmically connected we start living

through and communicating with God through our 

intuition. 

 

As we work towards our own personal connection with

God, Source, Spirit, Tao, Universal Consciousness , or

whatever name we use - let us understand that we all

possess a built in divine communication system - our

intuition. I find as I grow spiritually I depend on my

intuition for much of my guidance, inspiration, 

what I publish on this blog on a daily basis. In fact

the note below I basically transcribed - my term for

writing whatever comes to mind word for word from

my inner source without editing - my divine intuition.   

 

                             INTUITION

 

Today seek your own guidance – the still small

voice within – the intuition gently nudging you

to a fresh perspective, a clearer understanding,

a new approach to loving and being – the surge

of positive emotion when obstacles turn to

opportunities.

 

Today seek your own guidance – tune into

the wisdom within allowing yourself to tap

the infinite intelligence of your divine

connection that speaks through you, kindly

guides you with the loving voice that works

to lead you towards your greater good – your

perfect prosperity – work to listen today.

 

Today seek your own guidance – the voice of

reason, the voice of love, the voice without fear

or judgment that wants only your success,

your happiness, your opportunity to live your

At the core of the New Thought spiritual philosophy

that my work echoes and reflects is the focus on the

relationship between our personal and universal

consciousness and the impact of our thoughts on 

the creation of the life we live. In an age where

blaming others, fate, luck, or happenstance for our 

life situation or troubles is a first response, I realize  

this is often not a popular approach, but none the

less I believe it is a spiritually viable one.

 

I wrote the note below for Ann today to remind her 

that with all the issues that she is facing at work her

best and final recourse is to create the change she

desires within by envisioning the the preferred end

result. Keeping this preferred outcome in mind and

then going out and actively assisting with the

manifestation of this dream. You could think of this

as constructive thought and envisioning followed by

supportive action, but the first and most important

step begins with thought.

              ONLY THROUGH THOUGHT

 

Know today that only through your thoughts

can this world be changed, altered, revised, or 

redirected  - only through your constructive

positive life empowering thought can the plot

be changed – the events be altered – the

outcome revised  - the consequences

redirected.

 

Know today that you are an active agent in

this life production – resist the temptation

to take a passive role and instead fully

engage turning towards the action with all

the strength and the force of your will and

clear intention - prepared to envision your

preferred creation.

 

Know today that you are not alone in this –

reach out to your partner in this co-creative 

effort – the divine power of God in full

cooperation –joining forces to replace the

turmoil with peace, confusion with clarity,

despair with joy, and discord with the

harmony of  heaven here on earth.

Tend to your power today – understand it

as a resource – learn to assess its level and

to replenish it when its is low by connecting

to the universal energy and flow of living in

balance, in wholeness, one with your

authentic nature.

 

Tend to your power today by understanding

that each thought which is contrary to your

greater good dissipates your vital energy,

each fear accepted, every doubt entertained

leaks your power, wasting your dynamic

essence, sapping your primal strength.

 

Today tend to your power – let nothing

erode your confidence or question your

purpose – stay in tune with your vision,

your life mission striving towards full

realization of the joy, peace, love, and

happiness you are entitled to experience

daily.

What is most disturbing is that our minds are often

creating needless stress, tension, and anxiety by 

telling us daily that we are not ok, not good enough, 

we need to change, improve,  or give up completely 

before we get any worse. Truth is - we are really ok 

and instead of listening to the negative banter we need

to be getting to the root of this turmoil by controlling

our own minds. 

 

I wrote the Affirmative Thought  below titled -

You Are Ok - on Saturday after waking up to my

own mind working me over for what I was doing or 

not doing. When I really listened I realized that

what I was being critiqued by my own mind based

on a series of worse case scenarios. I said enough

and got up and wrote this note to remind me and

anyone else who may need it that  - WE ARE

ALL OK. 

 

Buddha,  after years of struggling for and finally

obtaining mind control - what I consider a major

component of  Nirvana or enlightenment, taught 

that the only devil or Mara we needed to overcome

was rooted in our very own minds. Constant 

practice and training is necessary to get our minds

to obey our conscious as well as our spirirtual wills,

and when accomplished enables us to overcome 

antics of the uncontrolled mind. 

 

Chapter Ten and Eleven of Finding God On The

Train - The Book - posted on the blog under the

Book Chapters tab on the left-hand sidebar surveys

the techniques and strategies that assist with 

 accomplishing this level of mind control. 

 

                     YOU ARE OK

 

Your life is ok even if your mind tells you

it isn’t – like a child in the dark it reacts

to every creak or strange noise even when,

especially when, all is well, safe, and

comfortably flowing to your intended

destination.

 

You are ok even if your mind tells you

you’re not – like a critical parent it demands 

that you live up to its expectations of

unfounded and unfathomable perfection –

often chiding you constantly for not

meeting a standard that was neither

sensible or plausible – providing little or

no recognition for a life truly well lived.

 

Your soul is ok even if your mind tells you

it isn’t – like a puritan of old it encumbers

you with thoughts of sin, shame, and guilt

reminding you of the penalties and

punishments when all that actually exits is

God’s grace, understanding, and forgiveness.

 

Today remind your mind that you’re ok

and enjoy the day!

an opportunity to begin again – start

over – continue on the journey – move

on – finish up – or just stay put.

 

Within this day exists a possibility for

rebirth, renewal, realignment or just

refreshing – a chance to grab hold of

the reins of your life – crack the whip

and speed on your way to follow your

bliss – your becoming – or just stay put.

 

Within this day exists precious moments

to ruminate, meditate, contemplate

or just reflect on the miracle of this life

lived in days like this – thick with

opportunity, possibility, and moments –

or, if desired,  just stay put.
