I would like to offer you the Affirmative Note below which focuses
on the the unique nature of human life - your, life, my life, all
life we have the pleasure of encountering. It is often hard for our
egos to honor and respect the vast diversity of human existence,
we are uncomfortable when faced with someone who cannot or
will not be easily labeled and categorized.
As soon as we label someone we have made an assumption about
who they are and consequently how we expect them to behave -
forever losing sight of their true authentic identity. We then find
ourselves confused when they act out of their assumed character
or nature - so sure we knew exactly how they would react based
on our clouded logic. This can be most painful when dealing
with assumptions we constantly make about ourselves.
I would suggest we avoid our labels, false assumptions, and
gross generalizations. Instead let us enjoy the uniqueness,
the differences, and the eccentricities of each magnificent
creation we encounter.
Today let us honor and respect the uniqueness
of each human life - understanding we are
encountering the infinite faces of God -
defying our labels, our categories, our
attempts to generalize and soothe our
ego's need to assume.
Today let us honor and respect the variation
of each human response - alive within an
emotional spectrum from bliss through
despair - feelings so profound and earnest
they color each interaction, communication,
and breath taken - truly indefinable -
leaving even the poet's description missing
Today let us honor and respect our individual
contribution to this magnificent creation
we know as life - refining our differences -
highlighting our eccentricity - for all the
universe to enjoy.
